..Respiratory cancers and Agent Orange....

Veterans who develop respiratory cancer (lung, bronchus, larynx, or trachea) and were exposed to AO or other herbicides during military service do not have to prove a connection between their disease and service to be eligible to receive VA health care and disability compensation...

...Copied from U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs...Check it out David,(Red)..and phone your Veteran Rep..If you have not done so already...Best to to yah Wolf.

Re: VA

COPD and emphysema are not considered cancers and COPD/E is not compensable under AO.  So, unless you can find a doc who with state he believes your COPD/E is due to AO based on scientific studies or some other exposure commonly linked to COPD/E during service, it will be very difficult to be rated as service connected for COPD/E.

Heck, the only times I left Binh Thuy was once in the
little outboard boat down the river to Can Tho, once to the
firing range, once in a deuce and a half to Can Tho, and
once to Vung Tau for parts recovery. Sad!!! LOL

Please note I am not any sort of expert....agent orange and other defoliants were widely used in RVN, however no matter where it was sprayed the run off of rain etc allowed it to flow "downstream" where it concentrated.  So I would assume the further down stream of a source you got, the worse it got...  but it was also absorbed in the soil etc. Ever lived on a farm?  Nitrogen, chemical fertilizers have the same effect on our rivers and streams.....   all that being said, those chemical also keep us fed, and orange probably saved lots of lives...

And, if I remember right, Mamasan washed our clothes in the river. That would be the source of Agent Orange.

I once googled up a map of Vietnam that was connected with a Agent Orange dispersal time table ------  My memory may be off, but if I remember correctly, the SEAFLOAT area was subject to 8 consecutive years of AO spray --------   It wouldn't be a stretch to think the Binh Thuy area was about the same

Re: VA

According to the VA, anyone with boots on the ground during Vietnam Conflict is eligible for the Agent Orange registry.  We just have to have proof that we were in the country.

If any Seawolf needs proof of being in country, I have records of dates of arrival to, and departure from HA(L)-3.
