Has anybody seen the new Patriots Point display? I just watched a video of it....not sure how I feel about it. I'm not going to voice my opinion right now... how about any of you??
There were posts on the Seawolf site on facebook.... and I looked at their own site. They produced a video with music and had vets from the army, navy, and marines lip sync. The navy guys I believe were boat guys... at least there haven't been any posts of any Seawolves saying they took part in it.
I was at Patriots Point today. Our display is in a great location. A huey and our memorial are located at
the front of the compound. It is the first display people see when they start to enter the compound. The
memorial needs a little more work to complete. The site is great as far as I can see. I watch as people
entered the compound on Veterans Day. A lot of people read about Hal-3 and the Seawolves and checked out the huey. It is my understanding, the helo will be lifted up and put on a frame an tilted
some in the direction where visitors can see it better. So far I think they did a good job with exception
of the memorial and either they will fix it or I will one.
Maybe it's just me and getting old.... I thought it would have been nice to show more of the Seawolves. I think they did a great job on the video.... I just have a gut feeling we are still getting the short end of the stick since we pushed hard about the ROH display. Like I said.... maybe it's just me and old age.
Howard...The "Roll of Honor"....should be shown.!!...So many enlisted gave their all...
So i agree with yah Seawolf...a ruckus should continue until it's displayed....
Howard, If anything we didn't log in enough pressure --- the last curator was a "Bubble head" and didn't see the ROH for what it represents. I'm not even sure he was there when it was removed, but he sure had the "double speak" down pat ---- well, he is not there anymore --- and the new man has been there for 35 years, and definitely knows there has been a LOT of concern about the missing exhibit . He told me 3 weeks ago that it will be coming back up as soon as they get through the Firebase push which pretty much ended on Vets Day. Just so you know, and everyone else knows, as Pres, I put a stop to our Yorktown donation with the feeling that if Yorktown wants to disrespect all the enlisted that have been inducted, then there was no reason for us to help fund that disrespect. When the exhibit goes back up, then return of the donation will get my blessing again --- even though I no longer have the purse strings.
Mike... thanks for the info... we sure did get the run around and disrespect that's for sure. Glad you are still on top of this and glad that it's coming back. It was a great idea to stop the donation until they took care of our display... I'm with you on that one. Looking forward to it back up for all to see and maybe with some luck we can get more inducted soon.
