Mr. Wolfe was a great pilot, and even better FTL. This hurts, it really hurts! RIP Mr. Wolfe.

I agree Jim, it really hurts. You, I and many others have lost close brothers from DET-6. I flew with Mr Wolf from Sept 69 to Match/April 70 on many missions. I have photos of him on the DET-6 link under the Craig Jones Link. I will let Sunny Lay know.

Bob was more than a friend, he was more the brother I never had. Because of his Air expertise I am here today. We attended the same Catholic Mass At Whiting. He invited me to His retirement ceremony from Training Wing Five and The Navy. His farewell speech were not of his exploits but of me; a gesture that will forever be etched in my heart. I will grieve for him a long time to come and I will miss him greatly. Pappy.

Hello Again Seawolf Brothers,
The funeral Mass for CDR Bob Wolfe will be held at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, 24 August at 1000. The church is on Hyde Park Road here in Pensacola. There will be a reception in the parish hall after the Mass. The family will have a private burial of his ashes at the Barrancas National Cemetery columbarium. Thank you for your kind words. I will make sure the family sees your words of high regard for their deceased patriot, husband, and dad.

So sorry to hear. Ten of us went through SERE training, Ft Rucker and HA(L)-3 together with Bob. Quarterman, Thomas, O'Hearn, Toone, Brinck, Harmon, Manning, Bob and I. Can't remember the last one.
We went over and returned on the same flights. Our paths never crossed again even though we both stayed in and retired. I served on the East Coast. RIP my friend.

Sad news. Rest easy Mr Wolfe. I will not forget.

When I heard the news from Dan Stokes this afternoon, a sadness fell over me. Bob was one of the seasoned pilots who taught me the skills that I would later pass on to others. Sorry we did not get to meet up again after Vietnam.

I had a conversation with Bob back in the mid 90's when he was at TRAWING 5. First time we had spoken since the freedom bird in 9/70. Same old Bob, I guess Bob is the first of our group to pass. He will be missed.

Hello My Brothers,
Regarding CDR Bob Wolfe's passing and funeral, I just wanted to post these additional comments as Ian had recommended:
=====
Hello Dick, Bill, and Pappy,
Bob’s oldest son, Navy Seal CDR Matt Wolfe, asked me to pass this along. Glad to do so. We know Bob would be pleased that his brothers in arms remembered and honored him as did his family.
We will toast our departed, faithful and loyal brother at our upcoming Seawolf Beer Muster at Goat Lips Deli on the 14th. Requiescat in Pace’ +.
Best to all,
Mike

Mike,
Thank you for the support that you and your Seawolf teammates gave at
my Father's services. It was outstanding to see everyone in their HA(L)-3
shirts and the banner outside of the reception. It meant a lot to my family
and all the others that attended. Please convey our gratitude to your
teammates.
Thank you,
Matt

Hello My Brothers,
Here is the final post of information about Bob Wolfe's illness. I received this from Matt and got his permission to forward it to you. Many of you had wondered what caused his death.
We will toast to "Wolfeman" this afternoon at a Seawolf beer muster at Goat Lips Deli on Copter Road here in Pensacola.
Best to each of you,
Mike

"Hi guys,
You may or may not know that Wolfeman has been pretty sick this past year. Lots of trouble with acid reflux, lots of tests, a couple of procedures, lost about 40 lbs. Had surgery about 3 weeks ago (7/24) for a hiatal hernia; in & out of ICU afterwards, couldn't swallow, aspirated fluid, finally recovering at home since last Wed with an ng tube. Suffered respiratory distress/heart incident Tues morning 8/15 & stopped breathing. Currently at Sacred Heart ICU, is stable, out of sedation but unconscious & in a cooled-down wait & see state for at least 48 hours."
We were all with him when he passed.
Thanks again for all the support you guys showed. The Seawolfs played a critical role in Vietnam and the development of Naval Special Warfare. I appreciate all that you and your Teammates did for us.
Thanks,
Matt Wolfe
