Another Vet Passes

Michael Burns
It is with great sorrow that I report Jimmie Hollandsworth passed away on June 20, 2017. He died of complication with renal cancer. Jimmie was not a seawolf, he was a veteran of the Vietnam erra. However many of you may know Jimmie as shipmates in other duty stations. He was stationed at VT-23 in Kingsville, TX; was on the Trippoli and on the Ticonderoga. He served in the Navy from 1966 to 1970, he ended his stent in the Navy as an AO-3. Jimmie attended the HAL-3 reunion with me in Dallas where some of you may have met him. Jimmie was my close friend for more than 50 years and my brother in law for 46 years. He was one of the good guys and will be missed by everyone who know him and called him a friend.

Although I don't remember Jimmie: Donnel, Stokes, Meeks and Plona came from the Tripoli to Hal-3.  He was a brother and shipmate to us; RIP.

I was so glad you came to the Dallas Reunion Mike.  I do remember you introducing Jimmie to us.  What a great friend he was to you.  We are so sorry to hear of his passing.  I will never forget the good times you and I and the rest of our crew had during training.  We are loosing way too many friends and way too fast.
