Your are correct Howard, I just can not grab a good picture of that view off the net...The Bird is a Vietnam vet..Became property of Washington state..then American Legion Post 176...then Veterans Affairs, where she flys now...Vancouver WA...just off I-5 Hwy, OR-WA stateline....She was a HAL-3 Bird from what I've been able to read....Sum of us hung out of her bak in the day..."FLY NAVY"
Kid, I was at the ceremony for this bird when they got ready to put it on the post. I took a photo of the Seawolf Decal on the bottom while it was still on the ground. There were several wolves there that day. Besides myself there was Stubby and a guy named Tom. Do not remember his last name. It was in Sept of 2007. I am surprised that the decal is still on there as it was not real well attached at the time I was there. I will try to post photos from the ceremony.
Kid, When you said American Legion Post 176 in Vancouver, it rang a bell. One of the other projects I'm working on from time to time is a list of Seawolf Helos to update the website.
So far I have documented 193 helos assigned to us, but here is the info I have for this bird:
..Thank you Dan for the info concerning one of our Vietnam Seawolf combat helicopters, the tail number of 984 and the dates listed are before my days in country...yet I was onboard the Garrett County (Det-6, 1970) so I feel that connection..."cool beans" said this sailor, (for those of you/me who ate c-rats over there, yum)
..seawolfee..log on to your register account, then use the "insert image" thingee and download photo to your post...hope this helps...it only took me a thousand years to figure it thru...hah..And thank you for your post and info about our Bird...I do know Stubby (a rascal if there ever was one) and Tom, will have to come forward as I am not certain as to whom he be....
