marksmanship medal ---

michael Dobson
Did any of you ever think of this one ------- we shot zillions of rounds of ammo --- often with a SEAL or River Crew praying it hit close to them and accurately ------------- but did any of us ever get a "marksmanship medal" ????

can you really put Marksmanship and Automatic weapons in same sentence, only kidding....  most of the gentleman I flew with were damn good with the 60 and 50, rockets...maybe not so much, remember a lot of rockets running into each other, no doubt set up...    we should get some financial remuneration from the brass companies!!!

we should have saved all of our brass ..... it would have taken a ship to get it all to Japan to sell, but the profits  would have thrown a great party for the maintainers

The reason I asked this question originally is because I recently saw a picture of a newly graduated Hospital Corpsman that had his marksmanship medal ........ isn't it a bit ironic that we shot millions of rounds, and there was never a marksmanship award given in the squadron ( That I can trace) other than whether the pilot, Carl Nelson, or I , could hit closest to a hootch with the M-79 ----- 6 packs were always the prize ------   I'm sure we weren't the only ones to do something similar ----- anybody else get in on the betting ??

I never had a chance to make a bet.... I was trained/qualified by Ruteye and Lee... I was pretty deadly so I don't think I would have any takers....(snicker).
