I was there this past weekend. What a weekend. It was also Fleet Week and top of that the Blue Angels put on an air show over the ship that lasted an hour or more.
Sure wish we had her in Nam. She has two deck guns that are 155's and they publish that these 155's happen to have a rocket on the rear end and have a range in excess of 70 miles. What we could have done with those!
The entire crew have rooms with two people per room. I might even consider going to sea under those conditions.
She has hanger space for two helo's plus other.
Tons of brass there and not one person said Obama the whole day! Next in Class will be the Lydon Johnson. Cost was 4.4 Billion.
