UH-1 SeaWolf pic with nose markings "new to me"

Tom Mathae
Most of you don't know me, but I was the HA(L)-3 photomate at BT
from 6-70 to 12-70 (my 2nd of 3 tours) .  Rutledge loaned me his couch for a night back
in '04, so at least he does ...

Today I picked up this book ...

THE NAVY
Naval Historical Foundation
Published by Barnes & Noble, New York, 2000
ISBN 10: 076076218X / ISBN 13: 9780760762189

and on page 176 found this pic with a couple of paragraphs about the squadron.

I've never seen this nose image before ..anybody have info ?

I know who you are Tom,

That was an Early Seawolf bird that I believe HC-1 Det 25/HA(L)-3 Det 3 Vinh Long had.

To see where the snake nose art most likely originated, here are some patches and nose art from the Army"s Company A 501st Aviation Battalion 12/64 to 09/66, part of the 145th Combat Aviation Battalion (CAB) in Vietnam who had helos & crew on the USS Tortuga (LSD-26) and USS Belle Grove (LSD-2) during the Army's Task Force Seawolf, before the Navy took over in August 1966.

Appears they may have left the Snake as the "S" in Seawolf for effect?
