dunno if anyone else caught the newscast concerning a returning Vietnam Air Force pilot shot down over Laos. Apparently his remains were retrieved with the help of the Lao Military a short while back and were returned to US. His son, who is a pilot for Southwestern, flew the plane with his fathers remains home. The entire SW airlines ground crew, about 20 employee's fell into ranks at the cargo unloading as the flag draped casket was unloaded. Inside the airport, in the area above, well over 100 people stood and watched... removed their lids and stood in silence...
"leave no one behind"
if we did nothing else, a lesson we learned as a country ...protest war, not the warriors
I read the article Made the news in S Texas. A lot off of pilots went to the airlines after Viet Nam. The military still does a lot of military pilots still retire and go to work for the airlines. The airline industry has a military group. Enlisted and Officer. A good friend of mine was a Marine fixed wing pilot in Nam. Was a pilot instructor and retired from the Corps. Then retired as a pilot from South West Airlines. Fair winds and following sea to all of my Brothers. See you in Branson. Russell Det 8 69/70
