Seawolf Det. call signs

Gary Skaar
All:  Happy Hour and bar discussions have not resulted in a definitive resolution as to how Seawolf Det. call signs were assigned.  Someone claimed it was delineated in the HA(L)-3 Org. Manual.   A document I have never seen or heard of.  Others claim your call sign was just passed down as you relieved another Seawolf on Det.  It seems to be consistent that the OinC was a Det. # followed by a "6".  ie; Det. 5 OinC would be "Seawolf 56", assistant OinC would then be "Seawolf 55".   After that, it gets very sketchy.  What say you?   Thanks, Gary

I have spoken with Army Sea Wolf LTC Joffre Filion, 68th AHC Top Tigers who was CO of Sea Wolf Det aboard the Tortuga, and his call sign was 16, One-Six. That also goes along with what you're saying Gary.

Here is a photo of probably the first "Sea Wolf" patch (Army) (on the Navy White Hat are the numbers "1" "6".)

Seawolf 16

Sorry Lee, you may want to recheck your info ----- 16 was the OIC ----- not sure about 15, but all the others were on a "nobody has it " basis ........ also, to my knowledge, no Det 1 Asst OIC was ever made OIC of that set --- buuuuuuuutttttttt ??????
