Today, we have heavy hearts. Many of you know, especially if we are close personal friends and family, that for Jeff and I, producing Scramble the Seawolves was personal and a true labor of love in many ways. We often felt, and still do, that God chose us to finally tell their story because He wanted it told and He wanted the hearts of the Seawolves to be full and at peace knowing that their story of life-saving service and personal sacrifice would NOT be lost, but that their families and America would finally know... in their own words.
Well, today, our hearts are so heavy and very sad. The Lord called our friend, Russell Underwood, home to be with him. If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll remember one of the funniest parts of the movie is where Russell says, “Whatcha gonna do, send us to Viet Nam”. Always always the crowds just roars with laughter when he says that 😊.
This entire process has been such a blessing to Jeff and I, especially knowing that we have met and become dear friends with so many of these amazing human beings.
While our hearts are so sad when we lose a Seawolf friend and we grieve their passing, it gives us joy knowing that their story and words will go on forever and for many many many years to come.... part of their life story is now and forever will live in on.
To my Dad and his Seawolf Brothers, we are so sorry for the loss your dear friend Russell. We will keep Gaye and Tina and the Underwood family close in heart and prayer during this time of loss and sadness. May God give them the kind of peace only he can bestow.
