Just found out Seawolf AFCM (Ret) Francis Devere Smith, ADJC, Maintenance Vung Tau and Det 3, 6/8/1967 to 6/11/1968, passed away.

Francis Devere Smith (Smitty) of Winter Park, Florida died Monday, November 9, 2015 at the age of 86. Francis was born to Frank D. and Mary Smith on November 25, 1928 in Tallahassee, Florida. After a distinguished career of 30 years in the U.S. Navy, which included being All-Naval tennis champion and receiving the Bronze Star and other accommodations [Commendations!], he retired to Winter Park, Florida in 1974. He worked at Winter Park Hospital. Francis had a green thumb, enjoyed working in his yard, and could fix just about anything. He was a great friend, neighbor, and patriot.

Frances was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Nancy K Smith Baquera, a sister, Ruby Jewel Smith and his second wife, Dorothy.

He is survived by his companion of 20 years, Gwen Seibert of DeVary, Florida, a sister Jeanette Smith Tinsley of Tallahassee, FL, three sons, Frank Wallace Smith (Jenifer) of San Angelo, TX, William Charles Smith of Laconia, NH, James Devere Smith (Patti) of Fredericksburg, TX, 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at Collison Funeral Home Chapel 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 17. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Tallahassee, FL on Wednesday, November 18 at 10:00 a.m

I had found him in 2010, he gave me his email address and sent him "the Stuff." Said it's about time he joined the Association, was really upset that he didn't know about the reunion just an hour away from him! Found him in Winter Park, FL.
(he never got around to joining the Association...)
