Here's the wording of dad's obituary: Norman Boyd Stayton, 63, entered eternal rest on December 11, 2014. Born January 7, 1951 in Blythe, CA he resided in Victorville for 35 years. Retired from Contel/ GTE/ Verizon. He served in the US Navy during the Viet Nam War. He was a highly decorated HA(L) 3 Seawolf, Det 8 door gunner. He is a Navy Cross and Purple Heart recipient as well as being honored with Stayton Hall on Naval Station Norfolk bearing his name. He considered his time and accomplishments during his Navy stint as doing his job. He was truly a humble hero who considered his family his greatest accomplishment and legacy. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patti; his daughters, Cyndi (Eric) Schmitter and Tawni (Josh) Micetich; grandson, Caleb Micetich and granddaughter Franki Micetich. Service will be held at the Victor Valley Church of Christ, where he was a 35 year member, located at 13150 Sycamore St, Victorville CA on January 5, 2015 at 11 AM. Interment will be at Riverside National Cemetery on January 7, 2015 in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norm's memory to: Wings & Rotor Museum 37350 Sky Canyon Dr Hanger 7, Murrieta CA 92536 Mark 'Huey Gunship' on donation or to Victor Valley Church of Christ Mark 'Building Fund' on donation.
