Hi there!
There have been some really REALLY exciting developments on Scramble the Seawolves over the past few weeks. We are hesitant to share specifics until T's are crossed and I's are dotted, however, we will tell you what we can! We are making great strides (really great strides) in getting our "TEAM" together in order to complete this film. It wasn't enough to simply complete this film for us. We wanted it to be spectacular...you ALL deserve that!
For now, please trust that we have the Seawolves best interest at heart and our focus has always been and will continue to be, to complete a film that you are proud of.
You can expect to hear from us in the next few weeks with details. We know you'll be just as excited as we are!
So, for now, we have a million dollar question.
Please let us know a song, two or three that you would like to see in the completed film. We will gather the results and go from there.
We hope our email find you all healthy and well!
Respectfully,
Jeff and Shannon Arballo

Question for you Shannon...there are a lot of Vietnam era songs applicable, but are there copyright issues that might come into play that could delay in making, or eventually not be allowed in the film?
And I and many others thank you for the good news!

Two that come to mind are Cody Maybe's, (What he had to do), and Aaron Tippin's, (Where the stars and stripes and eagle fly).

While I don't have a specific song, while I was with the Seawolves during 1967, I seem to remember they played a lot of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

When I edited my 8MM movies from Det I dubbed Rolling Stones tracks. Two tracks I really liked were, " Street Fighting Man", and "Midnight Rider".....

I'm sure you would easily get Cody Mabe's authorization for his song.
"What he had to do", by Cody Mabe (Nephew of Seawolf KIA Donald Fee)For some reason, the link didn't play when I opened it, appears to be something wrong with "My Space"...
Cody gave me permission to put the link to the song on Don Fee's TWS Profile.
"Don was my uncle and any way form or fashion you want to use the song not a problem from me. I own all the rights to it so no worries at all. I greatly appreciate you for service to our country and being a Navy Seawolf. The exposure of the song also is greatly appreicated. I am currently pursing a career as a country music artist and that is not only the best song I have but the emotional attachment to it as well…"

Dan -- I talked to Cody a few months ago and he gave us the OK to use the song in the documentary.. I am sure it is at the top of Jeff and Shannon's list. Cody is really excited about our story being told. He has seen the trailer. I am sure Jeff and Shannon will keep him informed of progress and intentions as the documentary further develops. Thanks for responding Dan.

OK, I've seen the trailer you released (great job) and I don't know if it's fits with the theme of the rest of your movie but during our down time on Det 8 Norm Stayton and I would occasionally pound down more than a few PBR's, crank up a reel to reel Woodstock tape and laugh like crazy as we sang along to some of the protest songs. I don't remember who sang it but the lyrics were ....1,2,3,4, what are we fighting for, don't know and don't give a damn, next stop is Vietnam....I guess it was our way of protesting the protestors or whatever...we had fun....Miss you like crazy Norm...

Tom, that was "Country Joe and the Fish" --- and I remember that one too ---- when I was in China Lake a guy got orders to Nam --- he would get drunk -- come into the barracks at 2 am, and crank up Country Joe and sing with it too !

|
Can't explain why...just that out on Det 6 Injun would strum up the song "Cool Clear Water" and we all would get to sing'n and so forth...many the thoughts that went along with them words, well yah had to be there, even now it sorta brings a tear to the eyeball....just say'n..

We gotta get out of this place
Just about anything from Creedence Clearwater Revival. Much of their stuff was written for us and the public didn't know it.

Hey Mike, thanks for filling in my memory blanks. It wasn't me at China Lake, musta been Norm.... Getting drunk and doing crazy sh.... seemed to be like butter and bread....ham and eggs...pie and ice cream. Nobody would believe most of the things we did drunk or sober, the good times and the bad, unless they happen to be a Seawolf or SEAL, etc.

Mikey when I went through SERE at Little Creek the Marine PT crew would call cadence especially when we ran by the PX to the country joe song.
