Thanks to Mike Dobson who sent me an email last night (read this morning) regarding a Seawolf passing that I had not found yet.

Seawolf Henry Joseph HARRISON, Jr., ADJAN, Maintenance, Binh Thuy, 10/25/1971 to 3/16/1972.
I suspected he lived in Ledbetter, Giddings, or PO Box, TX, but could never find a working number for him.

Obituary for Henry "Bump" Joseph Harrison
“Racing isn’t about how long it takes you to get from the start to the finish, it’s the adventure you have along the way, the people you meet, and the unique moments you share.”

The green flag was waived and the race of life began for Bump when he was born as Henry Joseph Harrison Jr. on July 13, 1950 in Bellaire, Texas. He was the oldest child of Henry J. Harrison Sr. and Dorothy (Farquhar) Harrison. His father gave him the nickname “Bump” when he was little and the name stuck through the rest of his life. He was baptized on September 2, 1955 at Holy Ghost Church in Bellaire. He graduated from Bellaire High School and joined the United States Navy on June 16, 1970. Bump faithfully served his country for four years and received his Honorable Discharge on June 17, 1974. After completing active duty, he continued to serve an additional fourteen years in the Naval Reserves. Bump married JoAnn Hodanick on October 6, 1979 in Houston, Texas. They had one son, Hunt. He worked for GTE which later became Verizon for over 30 years as a Central Office Technician. Bump always took an active role in his community and was a member of the Giddings Breakfast Lions Club, the American Legion York Post 276 where he served as Adjutant and as a member of the Honor Guard and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His passions included Saturday night racing, antique and classic cars and metal fabrication. His heart was always in serving and helping others, finding the humor in any situation and caring and supporting his family and friends.

Bump passed away unexpectedly the afternoon of Friday, March 8, 2019 at Dell Seton Medical Center in Austin. Though the checkered flag was waived and he finished his race way sooner than any of us expected, all of those who had the opportunity to be part of his race are better people for it. He will be remembered for his contagious laugh, his patriotism and love for country and his devotion to his family and friends.

Finishing the race before him were his parents and a sister, LuAnn Harrison.

Bump leaves behind his wife, JoAnn Harrison of Giddings; his son, Hunt Harrison and wife, Vanessa of Giddings, his grandson, Lane Harrison of Giddings; his sister, Deena Gardow and husband, Doug of Wimberly; his brother, David Harrison and wife, Diane of Cheapside as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bump’s family invites everyone to join them in celebrating his life at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the American Legion Hall in Giddings. Rev. Robert Tiner of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings will officiate. Burial, with military honors provided by the Giddings American Legion York Post 276, will immediately follow in the Giddings City Cemetery within eyesight of his shop where he spent countless hours working on his cars and projects. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, March 14, 2019 and from 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present to receive visitors Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers for Bump will be Michael Wachsmann, Trevor Erickson, Jake Horne, Gus Horne, Clay Harrison and Brandon Harrison. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Swonke and Scott Swonke.

In keeping with Bump’s lifelong commitment to giving of his time and talents to help others, in lieu of flowers, the Harrison family recommends making memorial contributions to the Giddings American Legion York Post 276, P.O. Box 303, Giddings, Texas 78942 or to the Giddings Breakfast Lions Club, P.O. Box 418, Giddings, Texas 78942.
