John Gana Service

Russell
Sandra and I were drove from Rockport up to Houston for John's memorial service that was held this morning.  I'm sure John smiled that brilliant smile of his when he saw the to see so many family and friends there. Some of the people were dressed formally and looked very nice. Then ther was quite a few of us in jeans and motorcycle vests with all of the patches.  And there were even Seawolves in berets.

Mike Dobson was asked to use John's new Harley to transport John's urn from the funeral home to the church where the service was held.  Patriot Guard had a detail there to escort John's urn from the funeral home to the services.  John and Mike's friendship goes back to Det1 when Mike flew door for John.  Also there was Miguel{sorry man, I can't remember your last name}made reference to John, he had flown the doors with Mike with John as their AC.  Mike was also asked to say a few words at the service.  Mike was the last speaker, and everyone before him made reference to John's Seawolf nickname but in defference to the the church we were in chose to use only Run For the Wall road name, IcePack.  However, when Mike got up he chose to call it like is, and referred to John as MagnetAss.  All of the speakers were great and scored some tears.  Mike got bot both tears and a couple of really good laughs at John's expense.

When Mike finished he called Miguel and I up, and each of us presented her with a Seawolf pin.  We closed it with a respectful salute.  Service closed with a bag pipe playing Amazing Grace, finishing with Taps.

I met John on Run For the Wall back in 03 or 04.  I came to respect John, and proudly call him friend.
