**04** Found and contacted Son of
Seawolf James Alonzo Brewer, ADJC, Maintenance, Vung Tau, 7/2/1968 to 12/20/1968. James left early to NAS Miramar, CA while processing HUMS Assignment.
I had found a person through Ancestry.com back in Sep, 2015 that I thought was him, but couldn’t confirm it was him until the end of Jan, when his Son posted a photo of him on the Find A Grave Memorial I had created for James.
I emailed his Son and got the following reply:
"Dan yes you are correct, my dad was ADJC James Alonzo Brewer Born Sep 14th 1931 and passed when I was 15 on AUG 24th 1980 in Valley Center CA. He was stationed at Miramar and was attached to a helicopter squadron, which one I don't know, but I do know he did go on deployment on the Indy, if my memory serves me correctly.
Unfortunately I was too young at the time to really know much about his time in the Navy which has been very upsetting to me since I served from 1987-1996 OS2 NEC 0321 on board the USS Bradley FF-1041, USS New Jersey BB-62 and the USS Callaghan DDG-994 along with 2 shore duty stations.
You have just showed me more about his time in service than I've ever known. I am his only son but he also has four daughters and my mom is still alive. He was born in Milton KS and had one brother Donald "shorty" Brewer who passed shortly after my dad.
Who are you affiliated with Dan and how did you get the info on his time in service? Thank you for all the information and please let me know if you find any more information on him I would greatly appreciate it. He was cremated and buried at sea, my mom is looking for the paperwork to let me know what ship scattered his ashes.
Thank you again, you made my day.
Sincerely
Mark A. Brewer'
