**03** Found and finally confirmed DAT
Plank Owner Seawolf James Burl “Goody” GOODSON, ADJ1, Maintenance, Vung Tau, 6/15/1967 to 4/23/1968. Found in Ancestry.com. U.S., Department of Veterans Affairs BIRLS Death File, 1850-2010 showing his first enlistment matching his ADBD in HA(L)-3 EDVR’s. 1940 US Census & subsequent SS application showed his full name to be James Burl Goodson, also matching HA(L)-3 EDVR’s. Wife Mary Louise Vaughn passed away in 1990, no other known living relatives. He got out of the Navy on 18 Feb 1977, about 6 months before he died. May have made CPO, but cannot confirm it.

**04** Found and spoke with sister of DAT
Seawolf Roger Dean “Duck” NICELY, AR, Gunner (8263), may not have gone to Det, 7/23/1970 to 11/5/1970 & 4/26/1971 to 4/28/1971. He got into trouble and was transferred to NSA Saigon and then back to us, then to NAVSUPPACT NHA BE, 2 days later. Passed away in 2012 of lung cancer.

279 Navy Seawolves now remaining to be found, which includes 23 Plank Owners.
Sadly, we have
568 confirmed DAT (Died After Tour), (22.23%).
Also looking for some prior Association Members we’ve lost contact with:
Homer E. Tipton; Franklin G. Gregory; Ramsey M. Hawley; Charles V. Russell; Donald C. Wilson ,
and possibly more now.
