Death of a Gold Star Sister.

Frank Gale
Received a message that the sister of KIA Chris Maher , Elizabeth Guyton,  had passed away several months ago. Her daughter, Malin Freeman, relayed to me that the Seawolf Association had been a great source of her healing for her mother. Elizabeth, her husband, David and Malin have attended reunions in the past. Below is her obituary for those that have interacted or met Elizabeth in the past.

Fraternally,
Frank

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Guyton (née Maher) passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully at North Mississippi Medical Center on September 23, 2019 in Tupelo, MS at the age of 70.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, David Guyton; daughter, Malin Freeman (Gary) of Kennedy, AL; stepsons Jon Guyton of Vernon, AL, and Scott Guyton (Beverly) of Golden, MS; grandchildren Ashlynn McCain of Starkville, MS, Tucker Freeman of Kennedy, AL, and Whitney Guyton of Golden, MS. She is preceded in death by her brother, Christopher Maher and her mother, Audrey Malin Maher.
Elizabeth was born on June 27, 1949, in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Richard Wilbur Maher, Jr. and Audrey Malin Maher.  She graduated from Murrah High School in Jackson, MS, in 1967.  After settling in Columbus, MS, Elizabeth worked as an office manager and secretary for ALFA Insurance and Magnolia School Supply, eventually retiring from Weyerhaeuser in 1997.
In 1992, Elizabeth and David Gutyon were married in Columbus, MS, surrounded by happy friends and family.  They soon relocated to Vernon, AL where they were later joined by her mother, Audrey, in 2000.
Elizabeth was an accomplished artist and pianist.  She was a generous and kind individual who loved her cats, big bowls of ice cream, and SEC football (particularly MSU Bulldogs and the Tide).  She was an active and dedicated member of the Shiloh Methodist Church where she served many years as a Sunday school teacher and a lay speaker.
