Had made notes of a couple posts on old forum to the record of William Stevenson Kerley but never heard more about him, so I'd left his record marked as Unconfirmed DAT and left as Unfound until I could confirm with relatives:
"William Stevenson Kerley by Wayne Campbell
Somehow I have a copy of his orders leaving HAL-3 for Treasure Island for seperation. Orders are dated 8 Jan, 1969. Home of record was Hiddenite, North Carolina."
"Found William Stevenson Kerley by dennis russell
if this is the correct one in Hiddenite NC he has passed away but family will contact the website to verify he was in the unit he did serve in Vietnam so guys who knew William Kerly post a message"
9/2/19, I finally found and spoke with Adopted Son of
Seawolf William Stevenson KERLEY, AKAN, Maintenance, Vung Tau, 03/01/1968 to 02/26/2969. “Steve” passed away 06/18/2002 of Pancreatic Cancer and Type II Diabetes in Stony Point, NC. Talked with Son, and did more research on Ancestry, turns out he was in the Army in Korea May 1964-3 Feb 1967, got out and a month later joined the Navy in Mar 1967. Separated at NAVSTA Treasure Island, worked for Dyna or Dayna Electrics in HI, returned to home state and retired working with NC Prison system.
