Received an email this morning from Cindy Williams saying she "found out today that Dennis R. Miley passed away on December 16, 2013 in Fredericksburg, Va. He was in Det-3 and was in the shoot down on the 28th of April 1969.."
He served two tours with HA(L)-3: 11/2/1968 to 5/31/1970.
I had talked to Dennis in 2010 and got him to join the Association. This is what he said during our conversation:
"I have visited the web site several times. Good site! I never joined because I didn’t consider myself to be a very good Seawolf. I had a knack for getting in trouble. I threw the cook over the side on the YRBM-20, which got me kicked off the Det. I managed to steal a 29,000 pound Pettybone rough terrain forklift from Vinh Long and drove it to Binh Thuy and a few incidences like that. I was plane captain training PO at Binh Thuy for a while before I left Nam. I do treasure the time I spent with HA(L)-3 and the great guys."
Dennis was later placed "Inactive" in the Association in 2012.
I found an obituary:
