Another Seawolf Passes away

  " Temp " Templeton passed away yesterday. Have no other info about funeral at this time nor cause of death. He was I know suffering from various problems with Agent Orange issues and his lungs were of great concern. He was a fine gunner and matured to a very caring man who was known to help others with a touch of humor and wisdom. He was a Det. 6 gunner and flew with John Harpole who also passed with Agent orange complications. Temp was a resident of NC. Harpole was from Texas.

Obituary for Gray Monroe Templeton, Jr.
Mr. Gray Monroe Templeton, Jr., 66, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2015.

Gray was born October 11, 1948 to Gray Templeton, Sr. and Minnie Frye Templeton. A veteran of the US Navy, he served several tours in Vietnam, earning multiple commendations for his service. After retirement from the military, Gray worked diligently with the VFW Memorial Honor Guard, a role that he cherished. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joseph Templeton.

Gray is survived by his sisters, Patsy Orander, Jenny Wilson (Steve), Joann Degraw (Lynn), Sandra Marsh (Wayne), and Theresa Lawson (Kenny); several nieces and nephews; his brothers-in-arms at the VFW Post 9010 in Clemmons; and a host of special friends.

A celebration of Gray’s life will be held Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 11 am at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Chaplain Benn Fleming officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, July 10, 2015 from 6 pm – 8 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Inurnment will take place at Salisbury National Cemetery at a later date.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the members of VFW Post 9010 in Clemmons for the friendship and love they have shown to Gray over the years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Masonic Home for Children, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565 or to the VFW Memorial Honor Guard, 4433 Bashavia Dr., Pfafftown, NC 27040

Rest in peace Gray.  I'm glad I had the opportunity to fly and gun with you.  You taught me a great deal.

Hey Frank.  Good to know you're out there.  Losing Temp is a hard hit.  I will never forget when we all went home with Temp between Fort Rucker and SERE in training.  I still tell stories about that trip.  Sweet water in mason jars, pickled double yoke eggs at the store up the road that we walked to, and all of his family coming to see him.  It hurts that he's gone, but he will live forever in our memory.
