Obituary for Gray Monroe Templeton, Jr.
Mr. Gray Monroe Templeton, Jr., 66, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2015.
Gray was born October 11, 1948 to Gray Templeton, Sr. and Minnie Frye Templeton. A veteran of the US Navy, he served several tours in Vietnam, earning multiple commendations for his service. After retirement from the military, Gray worked diligently with the VFW Memorial Honor Guard, a role that he cherished. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joseph Templeton.
Gray is survived by his sisters, Patsy Orander, Jenny Wilson (Steve), Joann Degraw (Lynn), Sandra Marsh (Wayne), and Theresa Lawson (Kenny); several nieces and nephews; his brothers-in-arms at the VFW Post 9010 in Clemmons; and a host of special friends.
A celebration of Gray’s life will be held Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 11 am at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Chaplain Benn Fleming officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 10, 2015 from 6 pm – 8 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Inurnment will take place at Salisbury National Cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the members of VFW Post 9010 in Clemmons for the friendship and love they have shown to Gray over the years.
