Ed,
I have another book to add to the "References" web page:
http://www.seawolf.org/books/refer.aspfor "Books Mentioning Seawolves".
"NAVY SEALS" Their Untold Story
Dick Couch & William Doyle
HarperCollins Publishers 2014
Describes complete history of the Navy Seals from the beginnings with the Naval Combat Demolition Units at Omaha Beach through all the different conflicts to Present.
***Also some stuff in here that might help with the recent Forum Post regarding the Navy cutting back on Special Forces, HSC squadrons, etc.!
SEAL's went through this cut-back stuff too, and go into detail about the consequences and lessons learned.
Just published, I bought it, and about half through the book in the Grenada fiasco, but has already mentioned "HAL (Helicopter Assault Light)-3" (oh well, close, but good comments made throughout the Vietnam era of the book), and Seawolves' missions and recognition.
Mentions Seawolf Gordon Peterson and Navy SEAL Michael Slattery's published accounts of a mission helping with the award of a Bronze Star with Valor for Navy SEAL Spence Dry (posthumously).
Describes the 3 Vietnam Navy SEAL Medal Of Honor recipients and their missions, including the Third recipient; Michael E. Thornton's (Guest Speaker at Dallas Reunion), while himself wounded, rescued the Second Vietnam MOH recipient (BAT-21 mission) and 3 other wounded Vietnamese SEAL's on his mission.
Highly recommended read!
