..Spoke with Ivy this morn'n, 05:00,...Bear passed, 23:35 (11:35pm)..Feb, 15, 2015...she wish'd for this announcement , with respect to Bears humor, "rumors of his earlier pass'n were overly exaggerated"...This doesn't surprise me, know'n my friend; as any of you gunners know that certain brother who the two of yah flew together as a team mucho combat flights;...no doubt he kick'n back B/s'n with our Seawolf mates , enjoy'n one really great,, belly-laugh...Well Bear, (only because he ask'd of me, not to call him Grumpy, *trigger*)...
...........to you, my Brother.!!..One "hell of a ride mate/Sir.!"....Rest Easy Seawolf.....

Rest in Peace Bear. Prayers go out to Ivy and family.
Ran across this photo of Bear as a LT from the USS Independence Cruisebook with VA-115:
He's the one on the bottom right with all the ribbons.
Here is the photo cropped:

There were three of us at the ceremony. Unfortunately I did not know Barry, but was in Binh Thuy & on Det 8 during his tour, met Stubby for the first time, and the third gent whom I didn't meet was Hardy (ABH-1). It was a short, very emotional ceremony. Even though I didn't know him personally I think I knew him because he was like the rest of you who I'm very proud to have shared our experience with. You guys are the real thing and not one of the wanna-be's from our generation who continue to say woulda, coulda, shoulda gone to Viet Nam but .....

Stubby,
Kid got me in contact with Ivy before he left for Florida letting me know she wanted to post photos, so I sent her an email letting her know I would help her get the photos on the Forum.
I'm just waiting for her, which understandably might be a little while.
Glad you and Jim Joyce could make the service. Jim, not sure who the third Seawolf could have been, but ABH1 Jerry Hardy passed away back in 1990?

Have to admit I was guessing Dan. There was an older gent across the room wearing a tan Army cammy with Navy written on it and the name Hardy but I didn't meet him. After the ceremony Stubby mentioned that another seawolf was there but I didn't catch the name and Hardy wasn't around. So I "assumed" that's who Stubby was talking about and you know what that means. We didn't go into the reception, the room was small and mostly family gathered there, so we mingled around in the lobby talking for a while. Thus I didn't meet anyone except Stubby, Barry's wife, and Barry's youngest son who asked about posting photos. I also suggested he come up on our site, go to the Forum, leave a message, and someone would help him.
