5/27/15, Found another DAT Seawolf this morning in PA

**12** Found and spoke with Brother of DAT Seawolf Michael Robert SMITH, AE3, Maintenance, Binh Thuy, 11/11/1970 to 4/29/1971. Found a Pennsylvania Veteran Burial Record for a Michael R. Smith, Navy, AE2, Vietnam, talked to crematory, then Funeral Chapel, said he was picked up by Brother, found and spoke with Brother to confirm.
He came to us from HC-7 Det 112, left us early to NAF Cam Ranh Bay, was an H-46 Aircrew with HC-7 and Cam Ranh Bay. Retired as AE1 in H-53 squadron out of Norfolk VA in April 1988. Died 12/28/2001 of heart attack/stroke. He received an Air Medal - Strike/Flight, for time frame of NAF Cam Ranh Bay, after HA(L)-3.

Of 2,552 confirmed Seawolf names, 346 Navy Seawolves still remain to be found, which includes 29 Plank Owners, and 7 prior Association Members we’ve lost contact with.
Sadly, we have 518 confirmed DAT (Died After Tour), (20.30%).

Went through SERE,  UH-1 Fam School and some time in IB ...  several of us, including Norm Stayton, John Thompson...spent a week in a little quonset hut at the naval weapons station in Newport news....Army said we couldn't stay at their base awaiting training....Mike was hilarious, always had a joke, trick etc.  Irish kid from PA, lived up to his rep.....

Never new what happened to him, I went to det and he was gone
